Dental implants are quickly beginning to replace dental bridges and dentures as the most popular method for restoring missing teeth. This is primarily because dental implants offer an unparalleled level of comfort and stability that other teeth restoration treatments cannot match on their own. And, dental implants are capable of providing a treatment for any number of missing teeth, allowing them to fit any patients needs. Today, Dr. Steven Hatcher is blogging from Greensboro, NC to give an overview of just some of the treatments using dental implants we are happy to offer our current and prospective patients suffering from a missing tooth or teeth.
Treatments We Offer With Dental Implants
For every situation involving missing teeth, we are capable of performing a restoration with dental implants that can fit your needs. Some of the treatments we offer include:
Single Tooth Restoration
For our patients suffering from a single missing tooth, a single implant fixture will be placed in the empty spot left by their missing tooth. During the healing period after the procedure, osseointegration will occur, which is the process of your implant fixture being accepted by your jawbone and gums as a natural part of your oral anatomy. Once the implant fixture has had enough time to heal, Dr. Hatcher will attach an abutment to the fixture and then connect the replacement tooth, completing the restoration.
Multiple Teeth Restoration
If you are suffering from multiple missing teeth, it is still possible to restore each missing tooth with a single tooth restoration. However, if you are suffering from multiple missing teeth that are all line up in a row, an implant supported dental bridge may be a better option for your needs. For this method, at least two implant fixtures are placed, one for the first missing tooth in the row and one for the last missing tooth in the row. Once healed, Dr. Hatcher will attach an abutment to each fixture and then connect the dental bridge, completing the restoration.
Full Arch Restoration
When a patient is suffering from a full arch of missing teeth, it is still possible to perform a single tooth restoration for each and every missing tooth. This can be very expensive, however, and an implant supported overdenture may be a better option for your treatment. For this method, four to six implant fixtures are placed along your arch. Once healed, Dr. Hatcher will connect an abutment to each implant fixture and then attach the overdenture, completing the restoration.
