Dental Implants FAQs

At Triad Dentistry, we understand that the decision to invest in dental implants is an important one. Dr. Steven Hatcher and our team here want to insure that all of our current and prospective patients have all the information on dental implants they need before deciding whether or not to make that decision. To do this, we have provided this FAQ page made up of common questions we receive here at our Greensboro, NC office. If you have a question that is not covered here, we encourage you to contact us so we may better assist you.

What are the benefits of dental implants?

Our patients enjoy many benefits from using dental implants for their tooth restoration treatment. Because dental implants fuse to the patient’s jawbone, they feel and work just like natural teeth, and all without them ever slipping or needing to be removed. All they require to remain clean and healthy is a good oral hygiene routine, allowing¬†you to continue to eat all of the same foods you always have. Your replacement teeth are also custom made to match your own natural teeth so no one will ever even know you have them. Dental implants also prevent further complications that can arise from missing teeth, such as teeth drifting into empty spaces and jawbone deterioration.

How do dental implants compare to dentures?

Judging by the buzz coming from our Greensboro, NC patients, dental implants are quite an improvement over dentures. Dental implants don’t need to be removed for cleaning and sleeping like dentures, and also don’t require any kind of adhesive to stay in place. Dentures can fit poorly and look artificial whereas dental implants are made to fit your mouth perfectly and the replacement teeth attached are made to match your natural teeth. With dental implants, our patients will be able to enjoy the smile they’ve always wanted without having to worry about the treatment weakening or needing to be replaced.

How long does the dental implants process take?

The dental implant process can take several months to complete. This can be extended to a year depending on whether or not the patient needs bone grafting or soft tissue augmentation to build up the foundation needed to support the implants. The first step in the process has the patient undergo oral surgery to have the artificial tooth roots fused to the jawbone. After this, the patient must take time to recover so that the process of osseointegration can occur. This process is what makes dental implants so strong. During osseointegration, the jawbone and gums heal around the implant, gradually accepting the implant as a natural part of the body. Once this happens, all that is left is to return to the office and get permanent replacement teeth fitted to the implants.

Can I afford dental implants?

We understand that the best possible treatment can often have the worst possible price. At Triad Dentistry, we believe that our patients shouldn’t need to be worried about price when it comes to their dental health. To help our patients fit dental implants into their budget, we are proud to offer a variety of dental implant financing options.
